July Goals 2017

July Goals 2017

Be a pineapple: Stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside. – Jacqueline Wilson

It has been such a busy month! The temperatures have reached a scorching high which makes it difficult to play outdoors but still nice regardless. I’ve been really busy with work lately and haven’t had much time to myself. I really think I need to reprioritize.

Before I get to this month’s goals, here’s how my June Goals went:

 Be More Social

I have spent more time with friends and being outside than I have staying home and playing video games or binge-watching a TV show.

 Enjoy The Outdoors

When it’s not too hot out, Tyler has enjoyed longer walks. I also went to Wat Lao Buddhavong in Catlett, VA with my roommate and some friends for a cultural festival–mostly for the food. The food was worth the trip despite melting outside in the heat. I wore my birks to walk around in which was fine but when I came home I realized I have tan lines on my foot.

 Give Yoga a Try

A couple days a week there’s a free lunchtime yoga session at work and in the mornings when I wake up before I do anything else, I stretch. I’m definitely not a Yogi just a beginner giving Yoga a try.

My Top Three Goals for July

 Learn Code

I already have a basic understanding of HTML/CSS and I do enjoy it. I’ve been doing this for over 10 years though I’ve never written code from scratch. I’m able to read, understand, and make changes. Maybe this is a new career calling as opposed to my current support role.

Update Resume and Create a Portfolio

I’ve been on a few interview panels at work and it’s given me the boost to continue to update my resume and try to better myself for more opportunities rather than sit idly in my current position.

 Start a Personal Development Plan(ner)

I’ve tried to start planners before and haven’t been really good with maintaining them. I’m going to explore different ways to use a planner to track goals, not just daily activities.

6 Favorite WordPress Plugins

I’ve been blogging on and off for few years now. In those few years I have tried many WordPress plugins and found some that workd and some that just didn’t live up to what I expected. Here are a few of my favorites that have remained in my arsenal throughout the years. This is a…

I learned about this film challenge from our neighbor, Stephanie. A hobby of hers is filmmaking and she introduced us to the 48 Hour Film Project. It sounds like a great opportunity to get your creative juices in gear. The conversation started when we were talking about YouTube and some of our favorite content creators…

June Goals 2017

Life is like a ten-speed bicycle. Most of us have gears we never use. – Charles Schulz Before I get to this month’s goals, here’s how my May Goals went: I’ve gotten rid of so many clothes, especially clothes I simply cannot fit into anymore. I’ve been holding onto them thinking that I would lose…

Drink More Water

We all know how important it is to drink enough. There’s so many health and beauty benefits but for me, a deterrent has been the need to constantly relieve myself. That’s probably too much information but we’re all human, right? I don’t think I can preach the necessity of drinking water without being transparent. Sure, I…

May Goals 2017

If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes. – St. Clement of Alexandra This past weekend, we’ve experienced really hot and humid weather, both of which I am not a fan of. However, I can’t wait to dig into some watermelons and other seasonal fruits and veggies. I had been…

A Windy Bluegrass Saturday

I had an eventful day with my brother from another mother aka my roommate, Homer. We checked out Uniqlo for my first time, attempted to go to the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck, and ended the night at Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm to check out his brother’s band, Herb & Hanson. It was pretty windy…
