I don’t know about you but there are times when I just do not want to do anything. Nothing. Okay, well, not always nothing. Usually, my lazy days will consist of me doing laundry so I can at least feel somewhat accomplished. On those days, I will typically just binge-watch something on Netflix. Have you seen any Netflix original content? They are definitely putting out some really awesome shows. I don’t watch a whole lot of television and I have a pretty short attention span but these are shows that grabbed my attention and each served their own purpose. I also just like sitting in bed watching TV when there’s the inclement weather out. Kind of like the snow we were supposed to get today.
Here are a few of my favorites that I think you should give a try. They’re kind of ordered from least favorite to all time favorite.
Seasons: 1 · Episodes: 20/season · Lifespan: Ongoing
I was looking for a show to kind of act as background noise while I was working on an art project for a class I was taking. The show is quite enjoyable as a pass time. It’s more of a dramedy. It takes real life situations and kind of gives off an awkward twist. If you missed the dynamic between Kelso and Hyde, look no further.
Seasons: 2 · Episodes: 10/season · Lifespan: Ongoing
If you’re a history buff or just like drama and action, you’ll enjoy this series. I don’t remember much history about Marco Polo but I definitely remember his name by the games I used to play as a kid at the pool in the summertime. I really enjoyed this series, though, it made me want to go back and compare to actual history. There’s learning involved too!
Seasons: 3 · Episodes: 10/season · Lifespan: Done
I love supernatural shows and anything to do with mythology, vampires, werewolves, etc. This show takes the weird and makes it even weirder. Although the series is over, you’ll notice that the show kept getting weirder up until the very end. It really messes with your mind.
Seasons: 4 · Episodes: 13/season · Lifespan: Ongoing
This is probably one of the first Netflix original shows that I’ve ever watched. At first, you feel sorry for the protagonist and as the seasons go on, you kind of start to hate her. I do love how they brought out more and more of each supporting role so you got to know them more and how they relate to others. I’m glad this didn’t just focus on the protagonist in the way many other shows do. There’s one part of the season that just really hits home with one scene almost taken out from reality. I’m still pretty sad about it, she was one of my favorites. Also, this was the show that introduced me to Ruby Rose and I love her.
Seasons: 1 · Episodes: 8/season · Lifespan: Ongoing
This show is an ode to everyone’s childhood and just has an amazing story. The cast, especially the kids, are so lovable and relatable to your younger self. I’m so excited that they renewed it and are coming out with a second season. I won’t say too much about this show but if you haven’t already seen it, stop what you’re doing and go watch it right now.
Seasons: 1 · Episodes: 12/season · Lifespan: Ongoing
When my roommate picked this show, I didn’t think I would like it as much as I do. The premise is people from a war-torn future are sent back into host bodies to change the past. You think, okay, this is interesting. But they don’t just take over any bodies, they take over bodies of hosts within seconds of their deaths. Everything was premeditated by a certain being. It starts off with a steady pace then around episode 9 or so until the end, you don’t want to put it down. It was jam-packed with story, wonder, and definitely left me wanting more. I’ve sat down with my roommate on numerous occasions after watching an episode and we’d discussed theories.
Seasons: 2 · Episodes: 13/season · Lifespan: Ongoing
If you miss The Office, then definitely give this show a shot. It’s quotable and just so damn funny. You’re always on the edge of your seat because you’re cringing and wondering what mess Kimmy is going to get herself into this time. Plus, so. many. gifs. Guys, seriously, watch this. Now that I’m writing about this show I’m singing the theme song in my head. Dammit.
