January Goals 2017

January Goals 2017

The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals. – Melody Beattie

Happy New Year! Do you know what I love most about the new year? It’s a clean slate; the possibility of things to come and a time for a change. Technically, every day can be a day for a change but there’s just something about the beginning of a new year that feels inspirational. That’s when everyone makes promises to themselves right? Resolutions to make this year better than the last. A time to start a new chapter in the book that we call life.

January 2017

I have spent most of the holidays and the first few days of 2017 setting up my blog and getting it ready to be relaunched. I am actually really happy with the new direction and purpose this blog is taking on. I feel motivated and inspired and will continue to push myself creatively and improve the quality of my life. In lieu of setting a New Year’s Resolution, which is something I don’t entirely believe in because it’s just a recipe for future guilt and leads you down a spiral into negativity anyway; I’ve decided to live this year based solely on a word. My word for this year if you haven’t guessed it already is quality. In addition to living a lifestyle that is true to my word, I’ve also decided to set mini goals each month. I’m going to pick three things to do and document the experiences. It’s almost a bucket list if you will but I don’t like the term bucket list because I definitely don’t want to think about kicking the bucket anytime soon.

MY TOP THREE GOALS FOR FEBRUARY

 Cook with something unusual

There are definitely things out there that I’ve never cooked with before. So I hope to find something new to me that I can cook with.

 Try a new restaurant

There are so many restaurants near me and yet, I stick the ones that I know. I need to expand my horizon and my palate.

Learn to play a song on the guitar

I have a beautiful guitar that has been collecting dust in my room. It’s actually very sad. This gorgeous instrument should definitely get more use than it is currently getting. I bought it many years ago with the intention of playing but alas, I never got around to it. So I have set a goal to at least learn one song or chords. Overall, just play–something.

Here’s a playlist to ring in the New Year. It’s best to play on shuffle, enjoy!
