Galentine’s Day was born in 2010 on NBC’s Parks and Recreation and takes place on February 13th. Unlike Valentine’s Day, rather than the focus being on your romantic relationships, this day is to focus on you and the amazing women in your life; ladies celebrating ladies.
Oh it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas. – Leslie Knope
Personally, I was never an avid Parks and Recs follower but I watched it whenever it was on TV or accidentally came on after I watched a show on Hulu because I really don’t watch all the much TV. This year, though, given all the political turmoil the US is going through, and the fine line between women’s rights; I would like to focus on celebrating some of the special women in my life. These women are daughters, sisters, wives, mothers, and extraordinary human beings. Though I am not able to always see each of these ladies, their unending friendship has been a wonderful gift.
Here’s to celebrating a few of my favorites ladies (click on their photos to visit their blogs):
If you’re able to see your lady friends today, don’t forget to take them out for waffles! Here are a few places that will have waffles readily available for you this Monday whether you’re craving something sweet or savoy. Some places stop serving waffles at 11 AM and others have options all day.
Here’s a playlist to belt out tunes with your best girlfriends. It’s best to play on shuffle, enjoy!
